Lane Cove – Stringybark Community Garden

OPEN SUNDAY 9-4pm only

The Stringybark Community Garden kicked off in late 2018 with the keen eye of a few local residents and the invaluable assistance of Lane Cove Council providing four covered garden pods and beautiful soil to fill them.

Over the year, gourmet lettuces and rocket have flourished, and strawberries, warrigal greens and kale have all been harvested by happy locals.

The compost bin provides the community with a way to keep their food waste out of landfill. The Garden is situated near a stand of indigenous gum trees but is also perfectly placed to benefit from just the right amount of sun so that the plants – which also includes a lemon tree, chillies and herbs – can thrive.

A frog pond and chairs and logs to perch on keep it social! The past year, as dry as it was, was just a start! We hope for a Community Garden Bush Kids Club that meets monthly that will involve and educate neighbourhood kids in living sustainably and introduce them to the fun and sociability of gardening, and a break from the all too ubiquitous digital device!

The Garden is near BYO cup friendly coffee shop, so bring your cup!
