Binnowee Community Garden is an initiative of the Berowra Baptist Church, and is on the property of Berowra Baptist Church and Berowra Christian School, and open to the wider community on weekends and during school holidays.
It is a herb, vegetable, fruit and flower garden, with five raised beds, gazebo, composting bins, a bathtub worm farm and garden shed. It has been built and is maintained by church and community volunteers, with ongoing projects to improve soil fertility, weed control and productivity.
We run weekly garden club activities for the primary school students; it is a play area for OOSH before-and after-school care; and is used for community events and as a beautiful, calming, green oasis that welcomes visitors from the wider community out of school hours.
We have recently retrofitted one bed as a WaterUps wicking bed and installed drip irrigation in the other beds. The plants are flourishing.
