STORY

Gardens can be productive and beautiful. The Boronia garden is a 1 year old permaculture garden designed to be both. It includes about 20 fruit trees, trellised berries, perennial and annual vegetables, and chickens as well as abundant flowers and native plants. After years of moving houses and countries, and gardening in rental properties, Boronia is an opportunity to set down roots and build a productive and restorative environment.

Boronia is a great example of a suburban space in transition, where turf is giving way to diversity. It is a regenerative garden using the power of compost, worm castings, chickens, companion planting, and crop rotation to reduce pests and disease and increase fertility. It is also a trial space for Adina’s work as a garden educator. It is a place that nourishes and restores the family that stewards the garden.
