The garden is an ongoing fusion between an existing award winning Japanese garden with large koi pond, and my Permaculture adventures here over nearly four years. Overlooking the bay with large angophoras at its edge, with a fernery and native grassland area, it now has chickens, bananas, figs, citrus and wicking beds filled with vegetables, plus herbs and cottage garden perennials in experimental colour combinations. It is also home to many native birds and a myriad of small creatures.
The garden is a joy to the heart of any gardener, especially this long-term vegetable grower with a passion for the environment and sustainable living. Having completed many permaculture courses, and recently a four year horticulture course, I am keen to use experimental methods and to learn new things.
I am heavily involved in several local community gardens having also set up the Lane Cove Community Garden some years ago. Come and have a chat and we can celebrate our successes and troubleshoot our gardening problems together. Or just come and sit in this tranquil garden overlooking the water and contemplate the meaning of life – gardening of course!
