I wanted to grow a native garden space which would serve as a habitat space for wildlife and supply some plants we could use for flavouring, tea, and everyday cooking. As Aussie plants grow in a wide variety of micro-climates, they need different conditions. Our one acre of garden space gives the opportunity to follow a trail of useful plants which I have clearly labelled with markers. We are always on the lookout for indigenous "plant pop-ups" which increase our garden and reduce the lawns. By far the plant most used by family and friends is the Lemon myrtle tree, which makes a nutritious and tasty tea and flavours fish, cheesecake and other dishes regularly. A more traditional vegetable garden supplies us with mostly green veggies on a daily basis as well as many herbs.
