STORY

Our vegetable garden is in our front yard, mainly because that is where sun is best, but also to demonstrate that vegetable gardens can be beautiful and (hopefully) inspiring
We focus on maximum productivity with minimum waste. We produce more vegetables, fish and eggs than we can eat, sharing, exchanging and selling the excess with family and friends.
We are 100% organic. We don’t use any synthetic fertiliser, herbicides, fungicides or pesticides.
The nutrient rich water from the fish in our aquaponics system cycles through two large, pebble filled grow beds, feeding the veggies, which in turn cleans the water for the fish which we get to eat fresh from the pond each year.
Our house is called The Hive and the hive theme has been carried through to the design of our hexagonal hardwood wicking beds. Wicking means that they are self-watering, drawing as much moisture as they need from a reservoir underneath.
Our family of five love our garden, it is set up to be abundant with minimal effort. We hope you like it too!
