STORY

Last year (2025) we celebrated our 20th Anniversary. The garden was originally founded by a teacher from the local primary school and local residents with support from Parramatta Council.
From its original four large vegetable beds for individual gardeners it has enlarged and developed into twenty five smaller more workable communal beds. We also have a fenced in orchard which has mainly citrus trees but also includes banana, pomegranate, mulberry and dragon fruit.
The majority of the recent expansion has been carried out by the small group of members (15) with financial support from Parramatta Council.
The results of our hard work are starting to show fruition with a recent influx of new younger members who enjoy our relaxed social atmosphere and inclusivity.
Our vegetable garden benefits from a timed drip feed irrigation system which was designed and installed by one of our members. Our next large project is to install a timed irrigation system using ten sprinklers around our orchard.
If we can provide somewhere where everyone and anyone can escape from their home and enjoy our beautiful country for even an hour or two and meet and chat to others within the neighbourhood then we will have , in some way, succeeded.
