This unique community garden is on Transport for NSW land right beside Newtown Railway Station. It began 6 years ago as the initiative of the staff of Sydney Trains and was short listed for a Premiers Award. Alfalfa House Community Food Co-op formally took over its management in 2023 and with a team of dedicated volunteers manages over 20 raised garden beds for vegetables and an ornamental garden. The volunteers tend the garden every Wednesday and Sunday mornings, and garden is open to the public on the third Sunday of every month when vegetables and honey can be purchased. Lot of the produce is donated to the Asylum Seeker Centre and the social enterprise cafe Parliament on King, both in Newtown.
