Some of my earliest memories were spending time in my Maltese Grandmother's vegetable gardens. First in Toronto (Canada), and then in Sydney (Australia). So after starting a family of my own, it was important for me to teach my daughter where her food comes from, and more importantly the fruits and veggies that form part of her Maltese heritage.
15 years on and gardening has been my way of still reconnecting with my Grandmother's (who have passed on) by continuing to grow the Mediterranean vegetables they used to grow, using their tips & techniques, and cooking traditional Maltese dishes with our home grown produce!
I try to incorporate permaculture techniques that I've learnt along the way in my suburban Sydney block to support our fruit trees, perennial veggies, herbs and flowers. I guess gardening runs in my DNA!
