Sans Souci Community Veggie Patch (SSVP) has been operating since 2019 and aims to create a safe, welcoming, attractive place for people to meet, to learn and to grow an edible garden. We have 8 non-wicking wooden community beds and 20 other non-wicking beds which are tended by individuals. We have a focus this year to reduce our water consumption due to the re-emergence of El Nino. Our beds are made from ex-aviation industry freight boxes and the newer beds are wicking. There is access to a shed, tables, chairs and a tap! There is also a small pond with frogs.
We have around 20 members ranging in age from two to their late seventies; we meet twice a month. We are a rich blend of ethnicities which lends itself to growing a wide variety of herbs and traditional vegetables.
