Sydney City Farm is a half hectare urban agriculture project in Sydney Park at St Peters.
Nurtured by the City of Sydney, the farm is a place to get hands-on and learn about sustainable food production.
Our teams of volunteers communally grow seasonal crops. We hold weekly working bees on Thursday, Fridays and every second Saturday. Volunteers are involved in various activities including: pruning, weeding, planting, tree care, harvesting, staking, potting, seed collection, and organic pest control. Produce is donated to local charities including OzHarvest for distribution to those in need.
The farm’s community hub and cropping area feature floristry and agroforestry demonstration plants, and a range of edible plants (fruit trees, vegetables and herbs) grown in pots and planters. The farm’s orchard is planted with 100 fruiting trees, shrubs and vines. We also have a native beehive and small plant propagation nursery.
Education programs are regularly offered including small group horticulture and food production workshops and webinars, hands-on sessions with industry experts, and sustainability talks.
